In this course the students become familiar with the planetary ecological boundaries, climate change and biodiversity loss. They will understand the three dimensions of sustainable development as a systemic whole and they will be able to argue the interdependencies between them.
As students are part of the larger European context, as part of their studies they will become aware of the European regulations related to the digital and green transition. They will be able to identify the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and how the goals are promoted within U!REKA cities as well as the specific sustainability focus within the U!REKA European University Alliance.
The learning outcomes for the course are as follows:
After completing the course,
- the students are aware of the planetary ecological boundaries, climate change and biodiversity loss.
- the students understand the three dimensions of sustainable development as a systemic whole and can argue the interdependencies between them.
- the students are aware of the European regulations related to digital and green transition.
- the students are able to identify the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and how the goals are promoted within U!REKA cities.
- The students are aware of the sustainability focus within U!REKA European University Alliance.
