When consulting a traveller on vaccinations, the vaccinator needs to take a good health history and ask details on the trip in order to provide proper vaccination consultation. These include:
Personal data & trip details. Τravel destination, the area where the traveler will stay, the accommodation and the activities the traveler will take part will consult the travelers for vaccinations.
Health history. We need to know if there is a current infection or any chronic disease taking also medication, so that we consult accordingly the traveler. Allergies should be known so that we will proceed with vaccinations or not.
Vaccinations history. Travellers need to be vaccinated with all routine vaccines before their trip despite the travel vaccines they may need.
Ethics. The vaccinator should be aware of current travel health guidelines provide up-to-date information to the travellers and inform about the potential side effects. Thus, it is important to obtain an informed consent which in some countries may be required to be in written form (Leggat, 2006).
