There is a technical issue in Moodle’s Game activities, which prevents students from continuing a game that has been left unfinished. The Game activities have also been found to be deficient in terms of accessibility, and the activity has been removed from Metropolia Moodle’s activity menu (i.e. new activities can no longer be added). The activity will be completely phased out in October 2026.
If your course currently uses content created with the Game activity and its completion is essential for passing the course, we recommend that you:
- Inform students clearly that the activity must be completed in a single session from start to finish, as it cannot be resumed once interrupted.
- Note that, as a teacher, you have the option to reset a student’s incomplete attempt via the activity’s Show attempts view, allowing the student to start the activity again from the beginning.
If you want to create gamified elements (e.g. crossword puzzles) for your online course, you can create them using H5P tools.
