The following examples show how to write the reference list entry for books:

1 author

Oliver, P., 2004. Writing Your Thesis. London: Sage.

Variations exist on the number of initials given for an entry. We recommend you use first and middle name if the author has identified these in the work. Do not use full first name however,

2 authors

Gill, J., and Johnson, P., 2002. Research Methods for Managers. London: Sage.

Multiple authors

Palan, R., Murphy, R., and Chavagneux, C., 2010. Tax Havens: How Globalization Really Works. Ithaca, NY: Cornell University Press.

When listing books written by multiple authors provide the surnames and initials of all authors, even if they are many.

Edited books

For edited books provide the editor’s name with the abbreviation ed. (meaning editor) or eds. (meaning editors) following it.

McDonough, T., Reich, M., and Kotz, D., eds. 2010. Contemporary Capitalism and Its Crises: Social Structure of Accumulation Theory for the 21st Century. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press.

Book chapters in edited collections

For specific book chapters featured in edited collections you should provide full information of both the article and the source of the article (namely, the book), including the page numbers of the article concerned:

Kotz, D., and McDonough, T., 2010. Global neoliberalism and the contemporary social structure of accumulation. In McDonough, Terrence, Reich and Kotz, eds. 2010. Contemporary Capitalism and Its Crises: Social Structure of Accumulation Theory for the 21st Century. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 93-120.
