You should list full details of all websites or online sources cited in your text in the reference list at the end of your document. The information and punctuation needed is:

Author’s Surname, Initial,. Year/Date of Last Update. Title of web page [online]. Available at: < URL > [Accessed date].

= author or authorship and year followed by a full stop. Give the title of the web document or webpage (in italics). Show the type of medium, such as online or e-book, in [ ..] brackets. Provide the date of update in parentheses if given on the webpage. Show the URL using: Available at: then give the URL surrounded by markers < > . Do not use underline or hyperlinks. Finally you give the date you last used the page by writing [Accessed + date] in square brackets. Close the reference with a full stop. Be consistent in your reference list.

1.1     Long websites

Long website URL

If a website URL is extremely long, you can use a URL shortener if the link generated takes the reader to the correct location. An alternative method is to provide the homepage used for finding the reference and give routing details for finding the specific page mentioned. Please keep in mind that it is a useful practice to keep a copy or screenshot of the first page of websites which are referenced. This is important when you are using websites that are likely to change or be removed at short notice.
