For newspaper articles, give the author’s surname, a comma and the initial of the author’s first name followed by a full stop and comma. Give the year then a full stop. Give the title of the article then a full stop.  The full title of the newspaper is given in italics followed by a comma.  Give the day and month followed by a full stop. 

Gairn, L., 2011. Social networking: the best way to find a job? Helsinki Times, 27 January 2011.

Newspapers such as The Helsinki Times (above), the Economist and the Financial Times do not come under “T” in your reference list.

 

Newspaper articles on the internet

For newspaper articles found in online newspapers, the required elements for a reference are: Author or corporate author, Year. Title of document or page. Name of newspaper, [type of medium] Additional date information. Available at:.[name of database]. [Accessed date].
